Live, In Game Update

The Mets are losing 3-0 and let me just say this:

With the exception of Steve Trachsel only, i cannot think of a less enjoyable pitcher to watch than Tom Glavine. I respect his march to 300 and the fact that he's done it with a 20 mph fastball. But watching a master craftsman throw a change-up - just not that interesting. Unless it's offset by a 97 mph fastball.

  • Ah, ye of little appreciation for the non power pitcher. I loved seeing Maddux and Glavine in their primes with the Braves.

  • No -I comlpetely enjoy the Madux experience - the way he moves the ball around and hits both sides of the plate. But with Glavine it just feels different.

  • I agree with JB. I particularly enjoyed Glavine during Game 1 of the NLCS. The problem with Glavine is that he's a good number 3, but the Mets think he's a number 1.

Elster: Nice job last night by your boys Carlos Gomez and pinch hitter extradanoire Julio (.188) Franco.

  • Jow the whole team stunk last night. And this is baseball, what can you possibly take out of one game?

And we never mentioned this: The nets would still be in the playoffs if they still had Kenyon Martin right?

  • One game? Franco has sucked all season, as is evident by his .188 batting average, yet he's still the first hitter off the bench. Gomez is down below .200 also now.

I'm not sure what Kenyon Martin has to do with this discussion. It's hard to know how Martin's injuries would have played out, but he certainly is a better fit than Carter. With Martin the Nets went to the Finals twice in a row. Carter disappears in the playoffs every year.
