I know - And I'm Sorry

It has been pointed out to me (not that I didn't already know this) that my recent over-blogging about sports in general and Mets baseball in particular is causing me to lose much of my readership.

Due to a recent case of creative brainlock (I literally have no ideas in my head) I have been having trouble posting anyway. Add to that a post-season playoff run by the Mets (a rarity for this particular team - not everyone gets to root for the Evil Empire) and I have been writing pretty much only about sports.

I ask everyone to bear with me a litle longer (hopefully about another week and a half to two weeks) and I'll get back to some non-sports blogging. In fact, I have two pretty major blog collborations in the works as we speak. Actually, one of them, if it breaks right, is a project that is really near and dear to me.

So please please please - indulge a poor Mets fan a little longer. As soon as the Mets capture the World Series, I'll be back to a more "usual" posting schedule.

You know, only 75% sports.

  • It is playoff time. You are more than excused no need to apologize. I am surprised there haven't been more osts and in depth analysis of each game ;-). Obviously there are those out there who do not understand the rarity of seeing the Mets in the playoffs. They don't understand all the energy and emotions that come with being a die hard and loyal sports fan and sticking by your team season after season through elation and heartbreak. I am still reading and I hate the Mets. If you are not interested in the sports side then read just for the great debate going on between Elster and Joe almost daily.

  • Just write whatever you want. It's your blog. You should be writing for yourself, not your readers.

  • Elster and I are on the same side (I think). I'm just too jaded to have patience for his confidence.

By Blogger Joe Schick, at 10:07 AM

  • In total agreement with Joe's first post. Although readership is nice too. I know ur debate is just a friendly one that's what makes it fun. 2 Mets fans arguing and hoping for the same result. Makes for a great comedy show. Just trying to show you can get something out of besides sports knowledge.

  • Thanks guys - truth be told, I DO write for myself. But in all honesty (sorry if I sound egotistical) I think I'm pretty entertaining and I derive a certain satisfaction knowing that others enjoy what I write.

Bell - PLEASE hate us. There's nothing, in my opinion anyway, worse than a fan who switches alleigances to another same city after their team is elimiated. If the Mets lost to the Dodgers anf the Yanks had beaten the Tigers (hehehehehehehehehhehehehehhe) I would have been rooting like crazy for Barry Zito.

Joe and I like to bicker. We are like the odd couple, with Joe being the neat, skeptical, dour, bad karma Met fan and I'm the sloppy, funny ,entertaining, wildly fun, positive one. We make a good team.

By Blogger Elster, at 10:16 AM

  • Oh, shut up with your "bad karma" already. I'm a realist, that's it. I'm the guy who's said all along that the Jets can make the playoffs and that Chad would come back strong, while you and everyone else predicted 5 wins.

By Blogger Joe Schick, at 10:21 AM

  • Did I say 5 wins? Could have SWORN it was 6.....

By Blogger Elster, at 10:22 AM

  • Yup definitely a funny team. And don't worry about hating the Mets you don't have to ask so nicely. As a true Yankee fan it comes with the territory. I was even debating buying a Cardinals hat to wear around the city, but I'm a little short on cash at the moment. I would expect nothing less of you to root against the Yankees unless you wanted a subway series. Side note, I have not seen any Card hats in the city, wherever you are come out of hiding.

  • Bellany,

Are you at least a Nets fan?

By Blogger Joe Schick, at 10:29 AM

  • The Nets are Yucky. The fact that Joe is a Net fan is ONLY redeemed because he also roots for the Rangers, jets and Mets., And please, no Ranger cracks.

  • Elster,

Let the lady speak for herself.

By Blogger Joe Schick, at 10:33 AM

  • Don't worry. The people who read you that don't like sports grin and bear it and keep checking back for new posts. I think I've learned more about sports from this blog than I ever wanted to know, but since I enjoy your writing, I keep coming back.

By Blogger Sara with NO H, at 10:45 AM

  • I was talking to you. I'm sure my Yucky remark won't shy Bellany away from professing her love of her favorite basketball team.

By Blogger Elster, at 10:46 AM

  • Thanks Sara. Even though you have no H, we here at ELster's World will still take you.

By Blogger Elster, at 10:47 AM

  • Yes, I am a Nets fan. Probably the only team we have in common. I am not nearly as passionate about basketball as I am about baseball and hockey. Not entirely sure which football team I like, but then I mostly just follow the scores.

I am definitely not shy about sports and in general stick to my beliefs. :-)

Thanks for your comment Sara. See Elster, ur sports posts do a lot of good in teaching the female world more about sports. That's a great service to the world one in which i hope to have some impact as well. ;-)

  • Oh and Elster it seems we have opposite loyalties for every sport.

    Yanks vs Mets
    Devils vs Rangers
    Nets vs Knicks
    unsure vs Jets

Maybe I should pick the Giants just so we can debate that too.

By Blogger bellanny, at 11:01 AM

  • Tes - Go with the Giants. I think total opposite sports karma is a good thing for life balancing. And yes, the following sentence was not supposed tio make any sense.

By Blogger Elster, at 11:04 AM

  • ok. works for me. in my spare time i will try to become a giants fan. i know the basics of the game, team, and games played, but i will try to reach higher level and start posting. this should be fun!!

By Blogger bellanny, at 11:12 AM

  • Elster: Am I your only male reader?

Bellany: Nets fan is good enough for me, even if your other teams are all wrong. I'd be happy to send you a pair of tickets (on me of course) to a Nets game. I'm a season ticket holder but will probably only go to around 5-7 games.

By Blogger Joe Schick, at 11:13 AM

  • lol at the first comment

That's really nice of you to offer tickets. I would love to accept the offer. Let me know. Thanks!

gtg and give up computer rights for now, but i will be back.

By Blogger bellanny, at 11:17 AM

  • Let me know when you'd like to go. In the coming weeks, can give you the pre-season game vs. Celtics on Tuesday. Also probably the Sat night 11/18 game (unless my plans to see a ventriliquist that night fall through) or the 11/28 game.

Why not join us and become a Jets fan? It's much more agonizing.

By Blogger Joe Schick, at 11:23 AM

  • Wait a second - Yesterday I have lost all my female readers because I write about sports too much. Now You are my only m,ale reader?

It's possible I only have 3 readers though...

By Blogger Elster, at 11:38 AM

  • Thanks. I'll let you know.

Well I already gave my loyalties to the Giants so I'm going to stick with it and we can have some more friendly debate.

By Blogger bellanny, at 5:59 PM

  • In your dreams, Elster. I'm definitely a fair-weather Tigers fan, but they are going to kick the Mets all over between Detroit and NYC...

By Blogger AnySara, at 6:23 PM

  • top of the 9th 1-1 holy cow..it doesn't much closer than that...yikes

By Blogger bellanny, at 11:24 PM

  • ouch ouch 4 u- 3-1 cards...i am rooting for the cards but i feel bad for u guys...u don't deserve constant heartbreak...on to the bottom of the 9th

By Blogger bellanny, at 11:30 PM

  • who would've thunk it. i'm srry for ur loss. it looks like we'll both be watching from the sidelines.

By Blogger bellanny, at 11:52 PM

  • Write whatever you want, posts lauding ST. Louis etc. ;)
